Online Learning Presentation: The Effectiveness of Asynchronous vs. Synchronous Learning: Finding the right balance for engagement and success

For our online learning presentation, my partner and I explored asynchronous vs synchronous learning and how to best combine the two online learning styles for maximum student engagement and success. We broke our project down into 4 separate parts:

  • A distributed and open inquiry question
    • This question was inspired by our initial thoughts and findings of both asynchronous and synchronous learning
  •  The relationship of our topic to teaching and learning
  • The pros, cons, and risks of both asynchronous and synchronous learning
  • Strategies, best practices, and tips for combining synchronous and asynchronous learning for student success

In the presentation below, I looked at synchronous learning and discussed my initial findings when researching the learning style, as well as the pros, cons, and risks of synchronous learning. I also discussed the best strategies, practices, and tips for combining synchronous and asynchronous learning for greater student success.
